Sophia Haywood, Head of Advocacy and Communications at Dimeta has been elected as the new Chair of the European Advanced Biofuels Coalition.
The Advanced Biofuels Coalition is committed to progressing the expansion of advanced biofuel production and uptake across hard-to-abate sectors in Europe. The coalition represents organisations across the whole advanced biofuels value chain, from companies carrying out commercial production today, the enabling supply chain and those investing in the future production pipeline.
The Advanced Biofuels Coalition operates with a single voice, taking a leading position in the field with expertise spanning decades, and actively engages with EU institutions in the policy making process.
Haywood is the Head of Advocacy & Communications for Dimeta, a company dedicated to advancing the production and use of renewable DME, a sustainable liquid gas which can de-fossilize the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Industry. The company have a pipeline of projects in the UK, Europe and United States.
Commenting on the announcement, Haywood states:
“I am honoured to take on this role at a critical time for the advanced biofuels sector. Now, more than ever, we need to accelerate the ambition to scale advanced biofuel production, drive investor confidence and reduce emissions in hard-to-abate sectors.
“There is a huge amount of potential with advanced biofuels that can be unlocked by the EU, especially in reaching the 2040 targets, and I look forward to working alongside the coalition members in getting the necessary and fair support for our sector in place.”
Haywood, who has a decade of experience in navigating complex policy on behalf of industries at a national and EU level, succeeds Erich Cuaz of Clariant who served as Chair and who will remain on the board of the Advanced Biofuels Coalition.
